Plan Change under consideration

Comments Off on Plan Change under consideration

Nick is seriously considering delaying earning a degree in order to obtain a certificate from the Computer Systems Institute Networking Career Program. This would allow him to earn my certifications (A+, MCTS, MCITP) so he can get a job. This change is not a foregone conclusion, however, because he must first apply and then receive notification of his financial aid award. According to the Illinois Workforce Development System CSI accepts Pell Grants as part of financial aid.

Nick still plans to earn a degree, but feels it is more responsible if he can get a job to earn some money before he attends DePaul after completion of his DAPP requirements. It will cost about $32,000 for one year at DePaul without room and board.

Nick will complete his math, English, computer programming, HTML, database class and any general education domain courses that he can finish at Truman College before making a seamless transfer to DePaul to earn a Bachelor of Science in Network Technologies degree. However, before he leaves Truman he will complete all developmental courses. The degree he will earn at Truman will be an Associate in General Studies.

This is a full time schedule and I have applied to enter the DePaul Admission Partnership Program (DAPP) for the Fall term so I can recieve proper transfer advising for DePaul University’s B.S. in Network Technologies program. I am currently registered in Truman’s Associate in General Studies so I can take both Computer Information Systems (CIS) and Network Technologies (NET TEC) courses as well as make sure they all transfer.

Technical Routing

Nick is going to begin preparation for a degree program at Truman College in the 2012 Spring Term. The preparatory courses will consist of pre-100-level courses in Mathematics and English. Then my preparation will be on three levels: (1) general education, (2) recommended courses, and (3) network technology courses. These courses will help me in transitioning in to the DePaul Network Technology program.I am hoping to enter through the DePaul Application Partnership Program (DAPP) so I can receive exact advising as to which courses I should take.

Today I toured the facilities at DePaul University College of Computing and Digital Media. I decided that I wanted to earn a B.S. in Network Technology. I requested admissions information.
